I was so wrong in my previous posting...there were quite a number individual events left for Indians. I finally found a link where we can see the schedule for Indians, here it is:

Bad news: Paes & Bhupathy lost to Swiss pair (Roger Federer & partner) in Q/F. Someone should have told Federer that he is supposed to win in singles, not doubles!

What's a hat trick in football?

I always thought that when three consecutive goals are made by same player in a match, it is a hat trick. But today's (14th Aug 2008) Gulf News report says, "India rode on a hat trick from Sunil Chetri to drub holders Tajikistan 4-1 and lift.....Skipper Bhutia made it 2-0..."

So I am confused now.

By the way, did you know that in cricket, a bowler can carry his previous match's performance to make a hat trick ?

Saina lost!

Well, she did give her all in the contest. The Indonesian girl was making her run around quiet a bit, from what little I could see in Start TV snippets. Being an Indian, all I can say is "I wish the better player had not won" !

Now boxing and tennis is left for us... or am I missing some event? Yes what about long jump? So I think I was wrong in my last post when I said badminton and boxing were the only individual events left. Oops!

Olympic Badminton, Boxing Schedule

In individual events, with only Saina Nehwal left in badminton and the three pugilists Jitender Kumar, Vijtender Kumar and Akhil Kumar left in boxing (I am speaking of India) in 2008 Olympics, I would like to know at what time and date their next matches will be played.

NDTV, ZTV, StartTV - all are showing some news or the other regarding the games 24 hours (mainly Abhinav; Mr. & Mrs Bindra, thank you for having such a wonderful kid), but not about what is going to be of interest to all of us for the events coming up next. Why can't these TV channels understand what we really want ?

Well, I could find out about Saina, though. Her next match is at 10.00 am China time on 13th, i.e. tomorrow morning for me at 6.00 am Dubai time and 7.30 am IST. I googled sania olympics 2008 schedule.

I am sorry I can't help you about boxing matches timings as I could not locate the schedule.

Also, when is Paes+Bhupaty's next doubles match?

Conversions, Expectations & BBC London

I was listening to BBC Urdu service today in the car. It seems some old government quarters are being demolished in Islamabad, Pakistan. People were complaining.
One said that although he got a stay order from highcourt and even showed it to the officials, they still destroyed his home.
The other said that he did not even get a notice!
The third was complaining that even though he was a hindu earlier and converted to islam, his new religion is not protecting him from his house being destroyed in an islamic country, so what's the use of conversion !!
He was adding more to that but I could not hear properly because at that time suddenly the radio noise overtook radio news. Why can't BBC London provide FM broadcast services instead of the old MW (AM) broadcasting ?
